How time has flown...

Two years ago I penned the previous post, and in the intervening period much has happened. The most significant is that the friend of a friend that I met on 17th November 2011, last week became my husband...

New friends.

A couple of months ago, a new crafting store opened here. I didn't know about it, mainly because I had almost given up all crafting, for good. My mojo seemed to have permanently disappeared, and I was seriously considering getting rid of all my stash. Then I decided, on a whim, to go to Toolstation with Rotty. And BLAMMO! There it was! And that was it.

Is it possible to meet a platonic soulmate, and fall in (platonic) love with just one conversation? Well, I believe that it is, because it happened to me. I spent the next three hours talking to the owner. And talking. And talking. I can honestly say I have NEVER hit it off with anyone like I did with Beth. And today, whilst helping Beth out at her store, I met one of her bestest friends, and BANG! It happened again... Maybe not quite so platonic, maybe not quite soulmates, but BANG! all the same... I am exhausted, but meeting them and some of their friends has so far enriched my life a hundredfold, and I find myself looking forward to life that little bit more again...

Good Times.

40 and Fabulous!

Eek! A long time since I updated this.

So, I was 40 yesterday. I knew that Ian was planning something, but what that 'something' turned out to be was amazing.

A surprise party, with lots of old and not-so-old friends there, including Daren, my friend from Senior school. I haven't seen him for 22 years!

And not just a disco, but a live band. And not just any band, but The Veenex - they're on iTunes - I have their album. Ian used to work with Dean, a member of the band. They hadn't done a gig for the best part of a year, and yet here they were, at my party.

We had a fabulous night.

A lovely start to the week...

The boys went back to school yesterday, suprisingly, without any fuss from Thomas. He hates, detests, loathes school. He has had so much trouble with other children in this, his first year of senior school, but I do think he makes a rod for his own back sometimes. He can be so very contrary....hmm, wonder who he gets that from?

Ian took the day off so that we could go and see our pension/financial advisor. it didn't take too long, and we wandered down through town in the sunshine. I picked up some clothes for the boys, from Primark. £2 for jeans! We ambled down to Wilkinson's for garden stuff (a new spray head for the hose pipe etc) and i grabbed some bird feed for the feeding station. I've let it go to pot over the lasst couple of years, but now I'm spending more time out there, it needed sorting. By this time we were ready for lunch so we went to The Real China - all you can eat for £3.95 - bargain!
Came home, and planted up a hanging basket with trailing tomato plants - thomas says I am turning into a farmer!

After the boys got home, Ian went to have his tyres done - he got a puncture first thing, and the fronts needed doing anyway. While he was out, I fired up the BBQ - the first of the year! It was great! But, it was too chilly to eat outside, so we retreated to the sitting room, and watched the Gadget Show.

By the time I got to bed I was shattered - in bed and asleep by 10pm.....but a lovely day.

How Long?!!!!!!!!

It seems like ages since I last posted anything...okay, it is ages.

Too much has happened to write about, needless to say, I am now jobless, Ian has a job, but at 30-odd % less, and things are TIGHT! Doesn't look like we'll get a holiday this year...

Last summer's trip to the USA was pretty good - I finally got to go to SeaWorld - having wanted to go since I was 13. It was amazing.

Thomas has since started at senior school, and after a few blips, has settled fairly well. Chris is taller than me now, and recently picked his GCSE options...how can this be?!

The chickens are still producing eggs - they seemed to have missed the part where in the winter, egg production falls...

I haven't taken any photos for months, nor have I made cards or scrapbooked. I think stress may have something to do with it.

So, photo is of sealions in San Diego harbour...

Can't say too much 'cos it's all security clearance stuff, but needless to say, he will be earning again. Phew!

I have been on holiday for a week now - my WoW account is getting mucho use...LOL.

Not much to tell...

One of my bestest friends, Tracey, celebrated her 40th birthday on Wednesday. Her husband, Steve, organised a surprise party in a local pub, last Saturday. What a night! I drank lots of Adnams Broadside ale, and was quite merry. Trace had FAR TOO MUCH! and yet didn't even have a headache the next morning.

This Sunday (tomorrow) I have my grading - I'm getting nervous now. We have to do breaking for the first time. I'm fine with the elbow strike, but the side kick is worrying me slightly.

I finish work for the summer two weeks on Tuesday, and it can't come soon enough - I'm so tired.
