So it's been a month since I last blogged. What has happened in that time? Well, the remortgage went through fine, and we are now feeling much better off, and our savings are rising.
Chris has been hard at work preparing for his yr 6 SATS next week. At his age he should be achieving a level 4, but our boy is a level 5 across the board, and a high level 5 at that!
Thomas went up a level in his swimming - we are so proud of him. He's like a little otter! He also had a really good report from his teacher at parents evening last week - he has settled down and is working his socks off. It just goes to show the difference a supportive and encouraging teacher can make.
Ian has been asked to work a 5-day week again - it's been lovely having him at home on a Friday. We've been able to do all the company stuff, and of course, go out to Mulberry's for lunch!
Chris is at home today. He woke up complaining of a tummy ache, sore throat and headache. As it turns out, there was an 'incident' in class yesterday. One of the usual suspects decided to contradict everything the teachers said, deliberately disobeyed instructions from the year head, and then decided to swear at all and sundry. This particular child has a mouth like the proverbial sewer, but this apparently was even worse than normal. One child has ended up with a possible broken nose, Chris's legs are covered in bruises, and their teacher, who is a fantastic young woman idolised by most of the children, is covered in bruises from the kicking she received from this 11 year old. He does not have 'behavioural problems', unless you count the foul-mouthed, antisocial household he is being brought up in. He just gets a kick (pardon the pun) out of being obnoxious.
Chris's teacher rang me after I contacted the school to say that he wouldn't be in. We had a chat, and she said that this child has been suspended until after 1/2 term - when I told Chris he was really pleased. The lessons are often being disrupted by this child - not a week goes by without one incident or another. Anyway, the school have told me that Chris can take the rest of the week off, ready to face his SATs with a clear mind, on Monday.
Those of you who know the class will probably be able to guess the identity of the little ****.
I am looking forward to a quiet and peaceful weekend.
