We then popped out to Toolstation to replace the blanking plate that I destroyed when I attempted to throw the dog's bone into her toybox. Whilst there, Ian got the call he had been desperately waiting for - his new car was ready! On Saturday he test drove a Saab 9-3 diesel but wasn't inspired. However, he left a returnable deposit, and came home to think about it. On Sunday he returned, drove a 9-3 automatic, and bought it! It's lovely - quite luxurious.
We then headed off to school for the leavers assembly. As the children filed in, there was Thomas, and what was that on his jumper? It was his silver merit award! He received it for getting 90 housepoints in a school year. I was a proud Momma!
Then the end-of-year awards began, and to our surprise, Thomas won Royal reader for his class! That means his teacher chose the child who has worked hard on their reading, improved, read lots of books etc etc - and it was Thomas! He was gobsmacked, and couldn't believe he'd won it. I was so proud I could burst! He won a book of his choice, a pen and a certificate.
The next awards were the Royal writers - and Chris won! He won the same prize as Thomas - by this point all I could do was sit there and beam. A wonderful last day of term. And to finish it off, Ian took us to Tamburinos, a wonderful Italian restaurant in town, to celebrate. It finished off a lovely day.
And now...well, we need to get organised for Arizona - 2 weeks to go!
