I spoke too soon!

Yesterday morning was awful. Thomas just point blank refused to go to school. He kept repeating that he wanted to go back to his old school. I rang Dad for his professional advice, which was very helpful, and I rang the new headmistress to let her know what was happening. Eventually, at 9.30am, Thomas arrived at school. We had a chat with his new teacher, and after a little while he opened up. Thomas said he liked his new school, but hated the fact that everyone knew who he was but he didn't know who they were! So we reassured him that it was perfectly normal to feel like that, and I left, feeling drained and guilty.

When I went back to collect him at 3.15, he was as right as rain, and smiley. He was even happy to come shopping with me at the snoopermarket. We had a lovely time, chatting about his day, and he seemed much more content.

This morning was a revelation! Thomas was smiley and normal. He had his breakfast, and then we went to school - no complaints. We were a little early, so sat in the car - the weather was horrendous, and Thomas took a book out of his bag, and unprompted, read for a while. He even filled in his reading record book without being reminded! Then we headed up to the classroom, where he introduced me to Jack, his new friend. At 9am, off he went, with barely a glance for me. Thank goodness.

Ace and I decided to go for a walk up on Ham Hill - OMG! The rain was battering down, the wind was howling and swirling, and we got absolutely drenched. My 'waterproof' coat was as much use as a piece of tissue paper - I was soaked through to my underwear by the time we got in the car! But it was fun, and Ace is now fast asleep in her bed. Shall I get the vacuum out?

This is a LO I did last year, using a photo of the boys at the Grand Canyon in 2003. Again, the papers are Scenic Route.
